mod rewrite help required - please help!

    first of all i have to say i'm a complete newbie so please be gentle!

    i'm trying to search engine optimise my urls which are in the format:

    http://www.domain.com/download.php?something+really+long+messy+here&q=something&sa=Search
    PHP:
    to

    http://www.domain.com/download/q=something
    PHP:
    any help appreciated, many thanks

    I can't ascertain your exact issue with mod_rewrite, so I'll assume this was a general survey question. I'll try to be kind and answer, but if you had googled "mod_rewrite" you would have had access to these resources as well

    ..just an fyi- Most people won't reply to these types of posts because it comes off as if your first course of action was to post a question in a forum rather than do a little bit of leg work yourself.
