Mobile Twitter, Yet Another Way to Use Twitter, Yet Another Mobile Twitter Site

Johny Edu
This days is already hard to imagine social networking without Twitter. Being important for so many people , it would make sense to be free and easy to use, which is one of the main goals of the popular micro blogging platform. A question arises - do you really need a PC and desktop browser in order to use it?Fortunately - no. Twitter exposes most of it's functionality in a convenient interface, accessible for third-party systems and developers to use it. There is already a plenty of twitter applications providing various functionality to their users.
Twitter also has a mobile version, but it has few features and people are usually complaining of missing functionality. There are many mobile clients with various set/subset of functionality but let's take a look at one of the newest mobile twitter site, that is promising a lot of things!
http://twittme.mobi is claiming to be full featured mobile twitter site, that runs on every mobile phone. Well, there is no way to say right now if that's true, but there is already quite enough mobile users ready to approve/disapprove this opinion.
Enough with the dummy words - let's see what it can and can't do!
Overview:
Designed to run explicitly on mobile phones, even on devices with poor resources. The width page is adjusting automatically to the device screen, so no unnecessary scrolling is needed. There are no messy text/image views and page size is not bigger that 15kb, which is good enough for most of the mobile phones. The layout is intuitive and easy to use. There is a light navigation pane on the top of every page which makes navigation really easy. The layout is also light and nice to read, with intuitive links and small user friendly images. It really has many features and almost no bugs!
Features:
* sending updates * reading friends updates * paging available where needed * reply on status * delete own status * re-tweet of status * manage favourites * sent a tweet to an e-mail address * list all friends in a cool way * use of profile saved colours for friend page * show detailed info for any friend * browsing friend's followers and showing their info and followers * check followers tweets and use all the tweet features on them. * view/manage direct messages * search in tweets * search trends view
There is a very convenient feedback form so it is easy to give feedback for something that you don't like - i tried once and I got response within one day. The site also has a twitter account, so you can follow them and send tweets directly: http://twitter.com/twittme_mobi
So, http://twittme.mobi is quite good hum? Well, let's see the drawbacks or "nice to have" features:
There is no "remember me" functionality so the user should enter it's username and password every time they use the site. The answer from http://twittme.mobi was that there is a "you have a valid session" link, that allows you to enter the site by single click if your session did not expired. It could be nice, if there is a setting for disabling images at server side, still preserving quality layout. Another convenient feature would be to have a "key" shortcuts at least for the navigation pane, so when a key is pressed the link is activated. I already asked on http://twittme.mobi for all this features, and I was assured, that they are working on it. Smart phone owners might be a bit disappointed, since the site is optimised mostly for devices with poor resources, but it still look quite nice on smart phones.
Conclusion:
I will leave the conclusion to you, but let's say that it is a promising new site, so I wish them all the good luck and let's hope that they will survive.
