    Hey guys,

I recently came across the concept of mobile marketing and wanted to know if people have experience here marketing their business using mobile marketing. I know some people in US already using this to promote themselves and doing wonders for them. Mobile marketing is basically smsing potential clients or normal users regarding your company or any offers, discounts, coupons etc you may have. Some of the ways you can use mobile marketing in promotion of your business is as follows:

Asking visitors to your website / online store to register to get sms updates, offers etc. This works similar to asking people to leave their email address. Only here you ask people to leave their mobile numbers. Then using mobile marketing services keep sending them offers or whatever you want via sms. This is one of the best ways to get people back to your site as it has 100% participation from users and unlike emails where people generally just delete them, here there is a much better response rate.

Another really cool way of marketing via mobiles is proximity advertising. Here you need to subscribe to a mobile marketing service and within a span of about 100 meters of wherever you are, you can send automatic messages via bluetooth to anyone having bluetooth on nearby. Basically it sends a text first asking whether they would like to receive a special offer and if the person says yes, then your sms or offer is automatically sent to them.

Researching about mobile marketing I can see there are endless possibilities with it. Making people fill mobile surveys, using it for distributing coupons etc etc. I am really excited about it.

I have had a look at mobile marketing, and would get into it if it suited my sites as it looks quite interesting.

As for proximity advertising, I now hate the person who thought of it, as it is simply just spamming for mobiles

there are several companies out there working on solutions for mobile ad distribution. As more mobile's become "true" internet phones, like the iPhone, monetizing mobile content and publishing ads on mobiles will become much more widespread.

I'm ready for several of my businesses/sites to move into this sector, you should be to.

I think it can work for a small niche in particular demography not for a large area.
