Mobile development and reference books

    Hi all - I was curious if anyone knew of any good books for someone who is just starting out in mobile application development. What are the essential languages, and what books will provide a good starting point? I am particularly interested in working with Android, but am open to using all operating systems.

    Are you referring to mobile development that will be installed in a mobile phone (symbian, java etc) or an interactive apps in a server interfacing with mobile phone (ie SMS, MMS etc)

    Thanks for the response. I am referring to symbian and j2me development. I have experience with web languages like PHP, AJAX, SQL, etc. but this would be my first time working on a mobile development project.
