The advantage of some .coms versus .mobi is that some of them are aged. Aged domains tend to rank higher. dot mobi is only two years old. But I think new .com and .mobi will be the same. A .mobi domain with sound SEO techniques I believe will rank higher than its .com counterpart which is using poor SEO methods.
