MMORPG Seo

    Ok here it goes,
    SEMrush
Basically I am very confused with SEO, I have seen many people on freelancer offering their services with back links ect. However im a business man and like to see results, I will pay good money for good SEO services, But investing in SEO does it guarantee you traffic? For example I am in the final stages of developing a MMORPG, final stages as in we are testing it with users who are finding bugs, testing new features ect. However we currently have 50 users (all previous friends from other games who are testers more than just players). But upon launch we want to advertise and spread out and produce traffic, So ive heard SEO is the best for this (to target and gain traffic) and when I say traffic I mean we want to branch out and gain around 1,000 users a month or even just 2,000 unique visitors per month. I have around $200 to invest but am not sure how to best spend my money.

I have tried these websites where people click your link for 0.001 but they are a waste of money as people are trying to make money by clicking the link and that’s it, We need genuine decent traffic, and I am fed up of wasting money on people who say they can bring me results when they are offering rubbish.

    Any help?

Be very careful and do your research on SEO. Start with Google here where it goes in to aspects of hiring an SEO and be aware that $200 is not a great deal of money to invest into SEO, as good SEO's are quite expensive and in that MMORPG games niche you will likely need a good SEO (It's not a niche I know anything much about myself :) other than that I want to develop a game(s) in the niche at some point).

There are ways to turn your 50 users into a benefit for your SEO to thouhg, but heck I shouldn't say such things straight off the top of my head as it might not suit your set up and I know nothing about your site.

It's a minefield the SEO world though, so do be careful as there are very few real guarantees

Is your MMORPG by any chance using JavaScript?

That sounds like a good idea RHFMorg. I bet you could get a decent number of people to sign up for your SEO MMORPG. How would battles work? Would we try to out-backlink other players in the SEO MMORPG? Are the clans all split up over different SEO philosophies? And what kind of weapons are in the SEO MMORPG? I'll trade you my +23 Keyword Research Amulet for that +15 Backlinking Gauntlet...

You misread his post. He owns an MMORPG, and wants tips to get interested users using SEO.

Ah i completely understand what your saying, that's the thing i understand roughly what SEO is and does ect but i cant comprehend doing it myself as i have little to no knowledge on internet marketing. other than banner ads / ad sense ect.. The thing is most MMORPG's fail (well text based as mine is a text based game). The ones that don't fail have great marketing behind them. The difference is most games are built from these mafia type scripts, Ours has been hand coded from day one, security in place ect, I have a team of 3 developers (long friends) who i used to play with in other games who exploited and cheated to the high heavens, They have put measures into place to stop cheaters ect.. as the best way to stop a cheater is from a cheater.. We have been coding this game for over a year, and it is far more superior than many text based games. We have many features to put into place.

I understand $200 is little, however we have a subscription service at $5 a month, so when we invest 200 we plan on investing more, as results = members.. members = subscription.. We are the type of people to invest continuously into marketing and not let the site die.

Ive come here as i am not sure where to turn in terms of either gaining advice or finding someone who would help.. I am either looking for a good seo specialist or internet marketer, and i would love to find someone who can provide me proof of there legitimacy or someone who would work like our developers who will gain per sale, for example $0.50 -1 of a subscription, the game is free, and subscription is voluntry and provides allot of cool features, but imagine 1000 subscribers $500 a month continuous for our marketer...

In all honesty im stumped in terms of this SEO and dont really have much idea on where to turn..

@xtmx: I believe it uses a bit of javascript indeed as this is all hand coded.
@cores: Im confused on your post?

My custom javascript games site gets 1,200-1,400 monthly visitors through my SEO. If your game was mostly JavaScript for the client side, I might have been able to make a deal with you.

Exactly. I'm telling him what we want in an SEO MMORPG which in turn will help him get more interested users using his SEO MMORPG. SEO Wizards casting spells like "Big Brand Bonus", and "Destructive Fiverr gig". He could have Non-PC players like "SEO Grand Wizards" that do nothing but write epic content and get ranked for everything, and they roam the land preaching the virtues of WhiteHat SEO.

I have to say RFHmorg, I'm getting quite excited by the prospect of playing the SEO MMORPG. How much is this going to cost monthly?

Well the game itself is mostly php orientated but does include javascript. I would have to look deep into the files to figure out the main parts of javascript ect. But if you message me i will be more than happy to show you the site ect :).

    @ corest
Oh right i kind of see what your getting at :) but again still a little beyond me lol. such as Non-PC? As for monthly costs, we have a server with a big company which offers unlimited bandwidth, space ect which we know wont be ideal as we grow so we will be looking into our own servers (Therefore hopefully not that much).

For getting genuine Traffic, Facebook is best source which i seen. Spending some bucks in SEO didn't mean you're getting real traffic.

I've never worked in it, but I've heard that gaming is one of the more competitive SEO niches. Not as cutthroat as "Viagra" "Care Insurance" or "Credit Repair", but still, you'll be competing against some major players if you want to rank for the serious keywords in the gaming niche.

For just $200 I think your best bet would be to laser focus on a long tail keyword that's very specific to your particular game. Try to get inside the head of the person your game would most appeal to and think about what that person would search for in google then test out some search terms in google keyword tool (free tool) to see how many searches that term gets, then actually do the search in google and see what the competition looks like. If the big players in the MMORPG industry are targeting it try something else, but if the top results in google are forum posts or small blogs you should be able to outrank them with a small budget. Even if it's just a couple hundred searches for something as abstract as "RPG with lizard princess and curved swords" if that's what your game offers and you come up first chances are the person who searched that will be much more likely to sign up with you than just someone searching for online games.

Also, sounds like you and your team are pretty passionate about your product and have spent a lot of time and mental energy coding it from the ground up. I'm sure you've encountered some unique coding problems and found clever solutions for them. There are a ton of well respected programming blogs who would love an informative guest post from an insider who is in the trenches coding new products. If your developer buddies can write a detailed article on how they solved this landscape rendering problem or whatever, you'll have no shortage of authority sites that want to publish it and give you a solid link that 100s of directory submissions can't hold a candle to.

    Good luck!

Dude, just think like a visitor example did you saw any ads on facebook which force you to click them. Its a experiment which i seen it never fails. I am just giving you an idea. Indeed we have come across problems, But again you have more knowledge on the whole programming blogs ect and how to publish it properly..

Just taking a look on the key words site, One of the searched keywords has apparently a "low" competition, yet has searches of over 2,200,000 a month. How would i go about rating myself at the top of something like that?

Make sure to check "Exact" before doing any searches. It's a much better indicator of ranking usefulness than "Broad."

Couple things about the keyword tool I should have mentioned: 1) check the exact match option and uncheck broad on the left side of the page and - this will give you a more accurate idea of the kind of traffic to expect(xtmx beat me to this:)) 2) don't pay attention to the competition bars, those are misleading and meant to give an idea of the competition when bidding for PPC spots, not how hard it will be to rank organically.

For guest posting... just reach out to the bloggers and be sincere. Show them you've read their site and have something to contribute.

    Something like:

"I read your posts on x, they really helped when we were trying to figure out y for our game. We really struggled with errors when trying to do z but found a way to do it and would love to hear what your readers think"

is 1000x more likely to get a response than:

"Hey, your blog is cool can I guest post and get a link?"
