Mixing up your monetizing methods

I wrote an article on my blog about mixing up your monetizing methods so that you can decrease your reliance on Adsense.

    You can read it here.

I run several forums and a couple blogs and I just wanted to share my experience with trying out some ways to make money besides with just Adsense. I will be doing a case study next month to compare December's Adsense earnings with January's earnings from an as of yet unnamed program.

What do you think? I'd love to hear some opinions.

ApexGamingAds is a new ad network - I know the owner.

Yah, I only experienced a .07% CTR on the ads for that network (although it was for a skyscraper ad)

I only got like $.97 for 27,000 views. I'm sure it could get better later perhaps.

Ya, its owner launched the network back in July - and hasn't really marketed it well.

Well, if you have huge traffic then it is good to mix competing ad networks. Otherwise, after several months, you might be stuck with many accounts with just a few $ in them, well below the minimum payout amount...

For the first time since I started over the summer, my CJ commission is about to beat my Adsense commission.

I see what you're saying, but I'm not too concerned about a couple dollars slipping between the cracks in an effort to find a good program for my site.

What I'll likely end up going to is a single adsense unit followed by other ad units from various other programs that I find work well on the sites I run.

But I am interested to start doing monthly tests on different ad networks accross one of my forums and then providing stats etc. on how each one performed.
