Mitsubishi.org

How much would Mitsubishi.org be worth? I just purchased it on sedo.

I would guess a good bit for its rarity and relations to the motors company. It would have great value to someone who wanted to start a car community.

If Mitsubishi Motors lawyers decide to enforce their trademark, you could end up with nothing.

Bad thing about using trademarks as a domain.

What would it be worth though? I talked to a rep and they seemed to be ok with it as long as we were not using their name as our own.

Well I don't think it would be worth much because of the legal complications surrounding it. But all that aside it may be $XXX, maybe

Not worth much, the only reason it would have any value is because it's based on a popular name. If you turn it into anything other than Mitsubishi related products then it wouldn't be worth anything - and if you did you'd get sued.

    Basically, your screwed.

does that mean you can do whatever you want with the domain name, as long as you don't register a company call mitsubishi?

well the problem is you are directly using there name..no prefix and no suffix(it's not that doing this can save you from there lawyers though). Dont even try to sell it to the company.

The only way you can get a decent money is from the guy who is naive(which is really bad) or to just wait and watch...you may get some guy who is interested in it's non-commercial use.

Well I was thinking about a mitsibishi car forum. This way it would not be comercial, but it could make a pretty big and powerful site.

This is what I asked mitsubishi and they sazid it was fine as long as we werent doing things like... Calling our site mitsubishi. If it is just a board to discuss their cars they said they did not care.

Do you think I could sell it for like $500 or so?

You could try and contact mitsubishi and sell it to them.

But then again if you did that they might just "recommend" that you hand it over.

The reason why nissan.com is still in business is because their business is in no way related to cars. If you plan on using mitsubishi.org for say a website about fishing, than you are completely fine, if however you are basing it around cars than they can take it away if they please

They could take it away easily if they wanted it, but my guess is that you're relatively safe since you have the .org extension, as long as you use the name for a Mitsubishi forum or something, as you stated. Just make sure you clearly point out on the site that you're not in any way affiliated with Mitsubishi or anything. Good luck!

Well, there is more to it then that.

2 and 3 is where you could in. As long as you dont make money off their name, your fine. (Ive been through this-so I know) But then, why build a site?

However. Are you prepared to pay the legal expenses?

Also - you could be sued by them JUST for trying to sell the name at a tremendous profit.

Sorry to tell you - dump it ASAP for whatever you can get for it. But do it FAST. There are lawyers floating around here reading these threads, I know that for a fact as well.

    :)... I got a refund lol

I forced it back onto the seller I got it from.

Sucks for him, but that was proably what he was doing to me.
