Mistake: do NOT buy 1,000 visitors for $3

every month I see an affiliate try to push one of my sites with traffic from websites that sell 1,000 visitors for just $4. Or some similar ridiculous price offer.

Sure you're thinking, if I can make 1 sale from 5,000 visitors it'll pay off.. but this logic is wrong.

Most of those visits are not quality visits.
1. The traffic is not targeted
2. The visitors are probably getting paid to surf sites so they have no intention of buying.
3. Some of these sites will open your link as a pop-up that will get closed immediately.

This is not worth it. Month after month I see this. Trust me, these sites are not worth your $, this traffic does not convert.

Spend your money on google/yahoo/msn/ask and you will get a much better return on your investment.

I will totally agree with you motheninja.

In addition you should know that if you also use adsense on your site you might get banned for having that kind of traffic (because of the pop ups)

 

I have some affiliates who promote our clickbank mall through free traffic exchanges / paid to surf sites and feel that they are unable to make sales.

Earning money from affiliate programs depends on sending targeted traffic to the product pages. Everybody should remember this.

 

By purchasing traffic, many people feel that at least a few may convert, although through targeting, either specific users or potential customers through such methods as adwords, the people attracted are more likely to purchase. Personally, when I'm placed to a site that I didn't ask for, I close it, unless it really grabs my attention.

I dare say, the idea behind it is that some one may think, hey... for $3 that could convert into $50 commision, although if it was that easy, you'd do it yourself ...

I have persisted on such cheap ads. I got an adsense account banned. But there was one product where I do get returns. For 10K I pay $12 for targeted ads and I generally can get one sale $33. However, it didn't work for other products so it looks like products must have a general appeal and highly attractive to attract attention. Also page must be super fast loading. no graphics if possible.

 

True. The best traffic converting well is came from search engine. But may try to buy so banner or text impression with related site.

 

This is soooo true.. too many people are buying it.
