Due to a spelling mistake in one of my articles of a common word, i have seen a large increase in traffic for that word. Eg, piece of pie written as peice of pie Does anyone optimize their articles for wrong spellings? I am thinking of adding common wrong spellings of my titles in my keywords meta. What do you think?
I might be wrong, but if you are submitting to ezinearticles, I don't think they will allow it, especially in the Title. Zeek
I don't think it would help to add the keywords to your meta keywords. The search engines don't really use this tag anymore. To target misspellings you would probably have to use those misspelt keywords in the page text or in link anchor text. I would be careful about using too many misspellings on your site though. It lowers the quality of your site to both visitors and search engines. I wouldn't be surprised if a site received a ranking penalty for using too many misspellings.
Can be an effective strategy. Although typos don't usually get many searches. Just easier to optimize for.
There are some misspelled words which are extremely popular among searchers, so even Google treat them as "official" words and doesn't ask "did you mean...".
yeah? i wasnt aware of this? i thought google checked all individual words with a dictionary and gave closest matches if there was a spell error.. can u give me an example?
I think it's a good trick. You can't use EZA but you can still use a few other good article directories like GoArticles. If your page title is catchy, and your SERP is above the fold, they're going to click it instead of click Google's "Did you mean" suggestion link...
Sometimes one word has two meanings. When spoken, they both sound the same. But they have to be written on two different ways, and some people are not aware of it. So they write it wrong. And Google thinks, they meant the other one...
I don't think you can try it often. Once or twice can be enough. Over optimizing your site with those kinds of terms could do you bad in the long run.
i didnt mean optimizing my website, but what i meant was to add misspelt keywords in the keyword meta tag.no one except search engines would pick up on that.
No. Don't put them in your tags, don't try to do PPC with them, but, put them on your page/content. You will get picked up by the search engines, but be careful. It is very unprofessional to have misspelled words on a page. Depends on what you are promoting/selling etc. If I am in the market for a $5000 watch, and am taken to a site that can't spell, a sale is lost.. Site credability is important. If you sound like a dummy, and your page looks like a dummy, chances are you are a dummy. Makes sense. Zeek
