does anybody use misspelt domain names to promote there site

ie. thousands of people a day must write in something like www.eba.com instead of ebay.

i know the traffic wont be targeted but is there any market there

goggle.com 8,469.4 /day according to Overture and that’s with the extension and the misspelling, so yes many people do.

Actually, the traffic could be targeted. If you ran an auction site, eba.com would deffinaty give you targeted-typo traffic.

No, I don't realy do this.. I'd rather buy domains that I know I am going to use for a site.

Edit: Sometimes, I do buy .org or .net domains of a varioation of a popular .com domain.. you have to be careful with this though, as its easy to get into trademark infrigement and all that crap.

Typo domains are sometimes worth quite alot of money. Depends on the typo though.

I used to when I first started business online but have decided not to take advantage of other people's traffic any longer.
