    Hey, anybody,

very interesting, after last Page rank update on Feb 18, all my second level pages got Page rank 1 and 2 out 10,
but my Main page did not get any page rank , still 0 out 10.
most of the future page rank telling me that it should be 5 out 10.

the q. is , how come my main page did not get any Page Rank?

    any help,
    http://www.nemolist.com

    Hi,

well this update suggests to me that the future pagerank tools are either fundamentally flawed, or Google is playing games with us...

For your inner pages with higher PR; again until last weekend I would have said that the inner pages somehow have more backlink weight behind them... but having had the same happen on a couple of my sites I would have to say... I don't know what's going on....

Seriously though, you're the only person this has happened to, and it's not necessarily a bad thing or any penalty on your site!

    Cheers,
    Paz.

I wouldn't worry about it. At this stage in the game, you are just getting started. Focus on more quality stuff on your site and getting more links.

The only thing I use PR for is gauging the power of a link to my site. For example, I'll pay more for a PR 6 link than a PR 2 link.

Not a bad advice but, that is not the point. Do you think nemolist has got more links to its subpages than the main page? I do not think so, I personally have several good quality pages linking to my travel site but, PR for the main page not changed while all the second level pages got high PR.

The odds are strong that his main page has the most links.

My time is limited so I try to focus on the things that are going to make me most successful in the long run. While this does show that there are some issues with the PR system, I just don't see how it makes that much difference.

None of this really matters at the moment as any update, if it is an update, is not even finished. It can be quite possible to have a higher PR on internal pages than the "Main" page, even if it has more backlinks. PR is thought to be judged more on the quality of links as opposed to the number of links. In other words, it is assumed that a page with 10 backlinks to it from PR 10 sites, would show a higher PR than a page with 20 backlinks to it from PR 2 sites.

But, like I said. If there is an update going on, it is not finished yet, so just wait it out to know what PR changes have happened.

    Yeah,

exactly the same thing happened to me on two sites, one of which now has homepage 2, and PR 3 for a sub-page which has absolutely no inbound links (I can find), other than links from the home page and internal links.

When the update is over, I'll post back here. Also, I'll have to have another look at my navigation structure.

At the end of the day, I'm still ranking OK, if not better.... but there's something strange going on...

    Cheers,
    Paz.

I remember reading this during the last update. And the one before it.

The same problem we have here with http://www.freewebdirectory.us

No page rank for main page but 3-4 PR for inner pages while no inbound links for inner pages. Just 2 and 1/2 months since online.

This normally happens if your internal pages receive more inbound links than the homepage.

After re-reading this post, it just occured to me that no one is talking about their rankings....just their PR.

I'd have no problem with being a PR0 and ranking #1 for everything.
