i dont know if anyone will know this or if this is the right forum, but i am currently going to school for economics and i want to start off my career as a stock broker and move up hopefully to mutual funds or hedge funds manager. I currently have a misdemeanor for illegal burning because MY friend decided to make a little fire in the desert in arizona and it was for a little bond fire and we got cited for a misdemeanor and were fined. It was my first and only charge on my record, i have never done anything bad and it really was not my fault that night, so my question is would brokerage firms deny employment because of a charge like that that happened years ago or would i be able to still receive employment?
Just be honest. It depends. Some places don't screen, but some do. Some applications will only ask if you have been convicted of a felony or drug-related charge (you can obviously mark no). Just be honest; if it asks if you have misdemeanors, be honest. If they find out later on, it may affect your reputation I had to deal with state licensing with a misdemeanor (driving related, not a DUI), and everything worked out (took longer though)
