Mirroring DMOZ

    Hi guys,

To test how such a thing would work, I set about mirroring the ODP on a site I run. ( http://www.pontefract-yfc.co.uk/dmoz/ )

This started out a few weeks ago as a bit of fun, just to see if it would work. It did.

This section of the site gets hardly any human visitors, but a heck of a lot of search engine bots. The bots are actually killing my bandwidth, and I am starting to see a bit of inclusion in search engines on these dynamic pages.

To make the most of this, I added some ad-network ads. - And I suddenly noticed my weight go up a whole boatload because of this.

What I would like to ask, I am seeing possibly some good side effects of this test, what are the potential (definite) downsides? I am assuming duplicate content is definitely one, or will Google just see me as mirroring an authoritative site?

This site is new, and has never been assigned a pagerank, this aside I still get decent search engine traffic, especially from my target keyword (Pontefract) and so I don't want to do anything to hurt this.

Any thoughts/comments will be most welcome.

    Thanks
