All my ideas about Islam come from reading the Quran (and some Hadiths), reading the actions of Muslims in the news, watching the actions of Muslims around me, and reading the bat shit crazy stuff that Muslims post here in the forums. Btw - If you're looking for "normal", New Orleans is the wrong place. If it had a fence around it they could call it a zoo and charge admission. Helluva place to go if you wanna party though... the French Quarter rocks. Lived down there for a while. Very different world than TX. It's one state over an my accent stood out like a sore thumb. Aussie accent would go over big in TX. We had a French guy working for us at one place a few years back and all the girls turned into warm puddles of goo when he talked. O'nation nailed it with the term "accent sluts". People get a kick outta hearing someone that sounds "different". Aussie, French, Irish, Scottish, and various Brit accents all go over big here.
Heya Rob I figured that was largely the case - but I do know a few folks in Texas who are scarily religious, so that tainted my opinion a little too. I don't mind living somewhere a bit crazy - It's hard to explain. Unlike the Quran, some Hadiths has been modified. I think the Quran is deep enough that it covered almost every aspect of everyday life. So stick to it. Since you are reading the Quran (and I did too), can you bring me the "Aya" that contains wife beating. I'll show you how you are wrong.

Well... to be honest, the Quran has been modified also. Caliph Uthman ibn Affan took various versions and created what we think of today as the canonical version. Some verses of the Quran Muhammad himself even changed during his lifetime, abrogating earlier verses which he then claimed were influenced by Satan. Sura 4, Verse 34: Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property (for the support of women). So good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom ye fear rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge them. Then if they obey you, seek not a way against them. Lo! Allah is ever High, Exalted, Great. This is analyzed extensively at Wife Beating in Islam. You should probably read that article completely before attempting to refute the words of the Quran. Hi, 1. No. Never. 2. Certainly not. I won't even have contact with this person. People in the porn industry are certainly not normal people. I'm not saying that because they aren't Muslims. 3. I'm not sure which site you are talking about. But I'll assume you are asking about an Islam site in general. First, you work and get paid for what you worked. So if someone owning an Islam site asked me for advert, I'll charge him. However, with my own decision, I can advertise him for free. Not every Muslim is probably following the rules. Actually, many aren't. But this is not an excuse to not to follow or to accuse Islam because of unaware people.
I won't dive deeper into the integrality of Quran, since it's off-topic. I'll just return to wife beating. I'll ignore your website and the given definition and read the original Arabic version. 1. Men are superior to Women. (This is even proven scientifically). But this doesn't matter in my opinion. 2. You have the right to hit lightly women. The Sura mention it. You don't beat. And you only have the right you are not obliged to. So Mr. Will, as a Muslim, you can beat not your wife, if you value discussion over violence. But if you want to, you can, hit lightly without making her suffer and with a reason. I don't see any abuse here. Some people will always try to push down the values of Islam.

I would be really ashamed as the person that bought the advert seemed quite good to me. Also, right now, I'm running the advert for free because I think it's a good website worth advertising for. Unfortunately, beating tends to be hard on a woman's looks. Rania Al Baz was fairly attractive before she became of of the miracles of Islam in the modern world: She sustained 13 fractures to her face. I don't think anything over 10 fractures counts as a "light" beating in Saudi Arabia.
