I want to build a website but i don't know whether to build a minisite or a blog. My website would be about forex and i want to focus on promoting forex brokers' affiliate programs. I'll be putting some 8-10 banner on the website. I never host a website so i don't which is easier to maintain. I used to blog on blogspot and wordpress but from what i know it's harder if i host it on my own. That's why minisite in my other choice. Seems easier. I just want to write reviews, build content and drive traffics to my website. Nothing fancy. Any opinion?
If you want to add regular contents, then it is better if you create a blog. Once your contents increase, it is easier for you to manage all of that in your blog system. It is not hard to host your own blog actually. I really recommend you to use Wordpress. Most hosting do have Fantastico where you can install Wordpress automatically.
I would go with blog or combining both with mini site with sub-domain, provided you host your blog and have your own domain name.
Yikes! Too much to handle. I have no experience hosting any website let alone a forum. Thanks for your suggestion.
Yeah it can be done and it fine nothing wrong. But i think 8 banner is too much, why don't you only use 1 banner only coz it look more professional
Depends on how much time do you plan to devote to the site. If you have time to add fresh content all the time, go for a blog. If not, the minisite is your option.
Blog - it will be easier to sort out in the short term and better for seo in the longrun. Get wordpress.org and a good keyword domain - forex is going to prove a difficult task, so build on those longtail words.
Thanks guys. I think i'm sticking with 1 page website for now and i'll add a blog later. It'll me wwx.mysite.c0m/blog
if you want small website, then maybe Zimplit will help you,its free new site builder, there is great choise of templates, and online editor, so you can edit everything right on page, no admin area. Only you must have a domain. You can take a look at zimplit.org
Instead of confining yourself to one or the other, why not use a CMS like Drupal, start with either a minisite or a blog, and then you can add features (modules) as you like, this way you're not committed to only one. for example start with just the blog module, and then if you decide to make it a site, you can add articles and other stuff easily and still have the blog, plus you allow for user interaction by people commenting on your articles. You can also have a news section for the latest forex news and pull in feeds from CNN and such. If it grows and you have enough traffic to the point where you want to add a forum for more interaction, then you just enable the forum module. In other words, start with a system that will allow your website to grow and expand easily. I personally recommend Drupal.
I use a minisite script on http://www.basictrue.com/, for the moment I don't know if is good . I will see.
I'd go with Joomla at joomla.org It can be a minisite or anything else you want. Go to their site if you aren't familiar with it. I've been using it for years, if you want to see a demo just PM me and I'll send you a link to. It's a great content management system and has many components that are easy to install. Donnie
