Hi, I am now delving back into the Google game, after messing around with submitting my homepage and other crappy sites many years ago. I remember back then, I read somewhere that google will not list your website if it is less than a certain size. I think I observed this, when I tried to submit a single page site, just listing my CV in HTML form. I didn't get listed (but this was about 5 years ago). Recently, I have thought of a very informative website, which need be only 1 page long with perhaps just a form at the bottom for visitors to add comments to the bottom of the page. What are the chances of getting such a site listed high up in Google? Will I be better off throwing in a few other pages, perhaps with similar themed articles etc? I really wouldn't like to do that you see, as it would go against what my site is trying to achieve with its simplicity... Has anyone got any experience of this? Cheers!
Sham - things have definitely changed from 5 years ago. A one site page *may* probably get indexed, how well it will rank on serps is totally dependent on how well you optimize your content. If you have thought of a "very informative" website then surely there should be more than one page of "informative" content - no?
Hmm good point. Perhaps, my informative site, should actually be re-phrased to an informative "article". So in other words, is it worth registering a domain and starting a website which just contains one article on the front page? The article will be an account of a personal experience of mine, which seeks out to help others who were in a similar position to what I was once in. I can't really see how I can tie in other content to the site. I feel that the one article carries more weight and credibility as an actual "helpful" piece of information if it is tied into its domain name alone, and is just there for the sole purpose of being shared with others who I know are after that information.
Then you will want to submit it to article sites or approach sites that deal with your issue and have them publish it. hope this helps Frank
