Mine's not working, want to start over...

I'm hoping someone can help me with this.

I have 3 domains (1 primary, 2 add-on) and am trying to stop hotlinking of my images. Twice now someone (2 different sites) has been able to hotlink to an image from the second domain, despite what I thought was the correct setup for my .htaccess file. I have a single file that I want to make available for hot-linking from the third site (a site banner). Ironically, the file I want to get hotlinked; I can't get to work and the one that I want to protect appears to be wide open.

I figure my best bet would be to just trash what I have and start over.

Could someone please make a suggestion on how to achieve protection of all image files from each of the 3 domains, yet allow one or more specific files to be linked directly?

I found one method that uses a directory "shared" and allow hotlinking there - that didn't seem to work.

I would appreciate any suggestions you have.

    Thank you.
