    Hello everyone!

Up until 2 months ago, I was ranking very high for a highly competitive keyword which used to yeild around 12,100,000 results (I was ranking #3)

Now, I am ranking #21 and the keyword is still very competitive yet Google shows only 6,810,000 results.

My question, where did all those sites go? Did Google just deindexed them? What's going on? My site was ranking way high when the competition of that high and now I am ranking low when the competition is almost half in my niche.

Please share your insights, opinions, suggestions and wild guesses :)

    Thanks,
    Zeeshan

Google often adjusts the relevancy for what sites to show for a query, i've seen terms go from 120 Million down to 12 Million.

They are not "gone", Google just doesn't see them relevant enough.

A Google Dance will last 2 months? :| How's that possible. There was defenitely an algo update as there are a lot of crappy sites on the top now than the ones that are old and more legit. But this is a HUGE dive Google took when it comes to deindexing all these pages for that particular keyword

Did you stop and consider that they might not be relevant to the search. you might search for a phrase and one word might be in the title and another word might be somewhere else on the page totally unrelevant.....maybe they updated the algo or the specific search term.

everything little thing we are ready to blame google , their number one goal is to make sure the users are happy.

Google now displays only up to page 6 results. An algo change is in the making. Lot of data centers are offline, they might be upgrading software and hardware for them
