2 years ago lots of top internet gurus, including John Chow and Shoemoney promoted a site called MillionDollarWiki and said that it was the greatest invention since the slice bread. One of the top guru, I don't remember which one, even said that there was a buzz in the Silicon Valley about this site. I opined that it was a lame idea then and lots of people who were promoting the site attacked me. I said that MillionDollarHomePage that raked in a million dollars selling pixels on the home page was a genius idea and the MillionDollarWiki was stupid idea. Enough with the introduction. I bought a page on the site just for making fun of the whole idea in their forum. However, the forum even did not last long. So, I did not get any pleasure out that also. Now, if I am not mistaken, the site is supposed to stay for 15 years at least. However, today I find the server is suspended. It was pump and dump scheme from the beginning and sadly many people fell for it because they thought the Gurus would tell them how to make a million.
And when it was launched back in 2007, comments were (I'm quoting some of the positives. If authors of following quotes recognize and find them injurious, I'll remove them): "What a great idea he had! Inspirational." "these guys [...] are totally rocking the net. " "He also seems amazingly down to earth." "Genuine Money Maker? Yes. Absolutely."
Speculative market - stupid investors = $$$$ Game over winner collects all.. bye see ya.. from silicon valley credit union to off shore banking. Nice known ya buy you a drink some time.
Just did a bit of research on Google, it makes me wonder why people get sucked into things like this. Once all the hype has died down, it just fades into the background.
The idea was: for $100 (I think it was $100 ,not $1) you could purchase a page from a wiki. All good names like "money" for example of course were taken early...
just checked out the site, wondering, how the hell could that Actually work? :S must of been pretty profitable for owner i guess
The problem is that so many people buy into all that affiliate crap. The reason why those rich affiliate marketers are rich is because they sold you something that has been resold hundreds of times. If I had a million dollar idea do you think I would sell it for $89?...no
Another lesson to learn from this is not to believe everything all these so-called A-list bloggers say. Bottom line is these people gain your trust so that they can make money from you. Why are people still reading them I don't know.
