People got a lot of traffic from it. I haven't check it recently, but I'm sure the traffic was legit and alexa wasn't just manipulated.

 

Okay. There probably was a novelty effect. I wonder whether any of that traffic helped the websites in question. When I first heard about these pixel pages, I took a look and clicked on a few of the links too - did I buy anything or even stop to explore the site at the end of that link? No.

 

That's a good point... Anyway if I had any porn site, or something like this that doesn't need really "targeted traffic", I'd probably buy it, but I don't

People were selling pixels for $1 and there was also a quater million dollar page, selling pixels for 0.25, so why wouldn't you sell the pixels for $2 and make it a http://2milliondollarpage.com ?
