http://www.milliondollarwebpage.com/ This guy was in The Times today, and recons he made £56k from that page ($10 per square). However, he hasn't sold many squares, and other than the traffic that he'll get from his publicity, I don't see how his idea is going to get many visitors (Google Page Rank 0, so it must be new). I mean, who's going to visit a page full of adverts? Am I missing something here? I really want to understand where the £56k from, but it definitely wasn't from selling squares on that page. fcmisc.
There is a thread about it on DP somewhere. See http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=28853&highlight=million+dollar Shannon
That's what I thought, but the kid's making money and loads of people love it. I was tempted to take a punt and buy some pixels, but any visitors that I get will just be coming through random clicks. Hardly the sort that are going to convert into sales/clicks. fcmisc.
I wish i got there early enough. I would have bought a few pixels myself but at the moment the page is way too saturated with ads. I wonder if that even counts as a link farm.
let's call it pixel spam, but the idea and marketing is great from the guy. 3 cheers to him. Quickest way to make a million, lol. No offense to him.
As with everyone else I'm green with envy. But the guy must have had some other skills in marketing his site besides just the idea. The idea itself is only a success because of its success. I don't think the advertisers will be getting much out of their investments. And if I'd been the first one there to see an empty page I doubt I'd have invested then either (without the benefit of hindsight of course!) I'm going to be brainstorming all night in my vain attempt to make a million in the next month. lol.
