Looks like that site got another boost. It's the top article on slashdot now. I can't believe how successful that kid is.
I heard him on the Radio station over here (as he's from UK I think). Presenter: So, how much did it cost you to make the site then? Guy: Well, £50 to start with Presenter: lol (he laughs) Guy: Don't laugh, at the time, I had to borrow that money as I didn't have it! (£50 = about $85)
my Congratulations to Mr Alex Million Dollor Man But what was that idea ? I would say crap useless but luckily it got Press Attention and then it made all the points like "unique" idea
The idea was fairly simple and unique, which is probably why it was successful. I don't think it was anything particularly clever or groundbreaking though.
yes, the media made him a success, although he had to take the 1st step. I set up a "Million Pixel site directory" a while back, and one day one its first week it got 1600 uniques, but is down a lot now... But this slashdotting seems to have brought a jump to my traffic too. Not wanting to advertise my site, but if anyone wants it contact me. I on a regular day can expect 10-30 uniques a day to my domain... At first it was a funny thing to watch then it got to be a job, then I went to an automated system to have them add their own links to the site, now I have over 100 sites in my database the last time I checked.
911,800 pixels sold in 4 months is quite the achivement. Why couldn't I come up with an idea like that?
I would say because of Press Attention it became so successfull, its just another way of advertisement. Any website that gets a lot of traffic can be successful, I mean people want to advertise on a website that gets a lot of traffic, and low price for it. That website offers both, $100 per-pixel for min 5-6 years.
Damn . . .I should have thought of something like that too? You know what I think. . .it's the people who are desperate and need cash (ok that's all of us but you get the pt.) that always come up with the best ideas. And we just eat dust. Skinny
$100 per 100 pixels... BTW, I have a small smily on that site linking to milpixel, can anyone find it? it is green on the top row of ads!
i know man this kid is getting amazing feedback check this new http://www.milliongadgetshomepage.com/ and its free you know no $ or £. lucky
