And how would the buyer get his money back when every ad spot is taken, except by being extremely brave and deleteing all links, starting all over and charging more?!!!
I wonder if Alex is a member of DP, because everytime I and other ask critical questions, it seems that they are answered or tryed to be answerd in his latest blogs. I find it hard to belive that he got it from his inbox. because he claims to have 2000 unread with hundreds of new messages pouring in every hour.
Try bidding, within 1 hour you get a lot of emails from people try to resell or rerent their space on MDHP. No the mention the copy cats emailing to sell their space on their copy cat page. Lets see if and when it reaches 1 mil
Bidding process has considerably slowed down after tomorrows aggressive bidding. May be Alex is reading the posts here at DP and realized he was going way too fast.
Maybe the setup itself was $100, but his total costs are much more than that. I don't know how much Imal cost, but I do know a publisist from LA who works with several Hip Hop artists. He does noet claim to be as good as Imal and does not prose CNN and other high lever TV channels, like Imal does. He charges USD 150 an hour excluding expenses such as travel, hotels, phone calls and other stuff. Based on his pricing, it would cost something like 60.000 USD to hire him for 5 months. I don't know if Imal charges more or less, but he does promise more, so one could think that he charges more. If you count other expesis that Alex has or will have and also the tax that he has to pay. If he really sold all the pixels for 990.000 USD, then he would endup with somthing like 600.000 USD after tax and other costs. As for the costs Alex made. A senario could be that: - his crew works for free (friends) - hosting is 100% free - Imal did it for free, because he belived in it - All other worked for free It seems that Alex gives answers to our questions in his blog. Hahah maybe he is indeed watching this. I have stated that before....
That dude is a a genious. I bet a lot of his friends and family members thought this would be a "cute" thing to do...just for a laugh. They probably didn't expect anything much out of it. He's lucky. Last time I checked...his auntcion is at 150k. That was a good move to sell it on ebay.
I've been thinking about some good ideas like this one, damn... I have some website ideas but im not really into programming. I'm sure this dude didnt need professional skills for this, its all about his idea.
I think less than 600k. He would be in the highest tax bracket in UK, being about 40% as he earns over £60k. I'm not sure if there's any other laws, but that would bring his total earnings down dramatically. If he made a million, $400k would be taxed I think. Then there's the Paypal/2CO fees, I think roughly 6%, after the exchange rates (As he needs it in GBP). Then that marketers fee (I'd expect this would be ALOT due to the overnight success, considering she made it possible with her CNN and other newlinks 10% would be fair). I'd say he would be lucky to get $500k if he made $1million from the site. (Oh, and he might want to think about 'mutual non paying bidder' when the auction sells, which will refund his entire auction fees, which will be thousands)
Dude he sold 990,000$$$ already and this auction is going for a million. He will be keeping a million after all. Taxes already set aside. Smart guy with a what seemed stupid idea = $$$$$$$$$
It doesn't matter if he gets $500 000 or the million thats still a lot, Give me 10% of it and im out, im OUT. IM OUT!!!!
Has anyone ever thought that this was never created by 'Alex'??? Seems like its another addition to the perfect publicity stunt, i dont think it actually is a 21 year old guy...
Nah if it was created by someone else they would have done it themselves, no need to pay someone else this much to do it ;x
If i was a designer and If i was the one who designed that website for that dude. Believe me, I would kill myself
