I think your missing the point, the higher the amount goes, the more news worthy it will be. I can just see it now, on the national news, in their fun item - " and finally, who would pay $25,322.22 to have a wee image among hundreds of others".

If you had the money how much you pay for a 5 minute slot on the national news advertising your website?

If someone has a decent store/website selling loads on eBay (and a ebay name as 'website_dot_com'), do the preapproved bidder thing. Bid half a million, and retract the bid at the last few seconds :)
    Loads of free publicity.

there is a huge publicity opportunity for the person who wins, assuming they play their cards right.

Personally i would not wire my payment but insist on paying in cash at a meeting, with as many cameras as possible. Get some good quotes in there
"I was the last" " Glad JustOneUK could help Alex exceed his goal" etc etc and a nice bit of editorial on the site with some pictures of the handshake. (VT for the news of course) :)

I think it's a golden opportunity, depending of who wins, and how they approach it.

(PS, thanks for noticing me TOPS) :D

Funny to see that people are now reselling their pixels or putting them for rent.

All said and done, it's great idea by Alex. Even this thought of auction of 1000 pixels on ebay was a great idea in my opinion. He has made a million already, but probably this auction will cover up all his transaction fees and get him the actual million :)

I could care less what he does with his last pixels. Its his! Who ever wrote this I am assuming is just jealous and using HIS publicity for their own good. Which I dont know what good he would get out of it.

So basically there is no point in that site.

It does make me think. Specially now that Alex has posted on his blog that he got help from a professional publisist. Even though in every interview, he says that it all happend natually over night.

I have bidded on his ebay and within minutes I got emails from people who owned pixels on his site and wanted to sell it. When I check, both of them where sites from the start and both looked like affiliation programs, when I looked at the email. I told them that reselling was agianst TOS, but they said that they knew Alex. I whois them and traced them and it checks out.

Then I noticed that other pixels had been changed that used to been affiliation links... It made me wonder...

Are these friends who are reselling it and have the permission of Alex.... or are these the fake ads and now he is really selling them....

As for the milliondollarscam website, I have more than one thought.

    1. Alex is a genius, he saw this coming in September and reserved exacly a 1000 pixel spot... why that location, while 85% orso of the site was free, still remains a question.

    2. This is proof that its a scam

    3. The real marketing people who use Alex as a front office where a gunius.

    4. I don't know what to think

Time will tell who what the real story is. For Alex, I hope it is all geniun, because if it is... it will inspire a lot of people, including me!

As a marketing student, I am really intrested in the A to Z aspect of this story. Thus I try to research everything about it, so I can fully understand the exact process of the free publicity that made it all possible for Alex.
To me the publicity around the site and the amount of people reached with the site is a lot more worth than 1 million USD.

Pixels pages are DEAD. I sold mine off awhile ago for five figures and bought google stock with the proceeds. But really, dont bother building any more pixel pages.
