Milliondollarhomepage was a disgrace to all who purchased ads... anther failure was oneyearforsale.com.
You have to congratulate him for finding a gap in the market, however, it was kinf of pointless... trying to make a 10x10 pixel square stand out... good luck ^^... it coined a lot of similar sites, but since it was picked up by media, it helped improve his visitors, and with more visitors, it is more appealing to advertisers.... but now the hype is gone... it appears that people overlook the site, and the advertisers merely gained a potential traffic boost in the short term
This will probably be the one millionath failure in an attempt to copy million dollar homepage! Party!
I think he kept about $153000 from pixel lotto... and to segga I dont think he is at the top now.... the same idea can not work twice he has to be more creative... But hang in there if not Alex then somebody else will come with something.. We some action again..lol. actually i am in the process of implementing an idea that I have. I think it work really well
Do remember though that the guy had to invest i think it was £5,000 for the press release though, which a lot of people don't have especially at that age. He asked his parents for it i think...
milliondollarhomepage.com has a Page Rank of 4. I wonder if it was higher at one time and got hammered down for selling links? The previous posters are right that it would be very difficult to reproduce anything successful in this realm. The first time was unique, after that it's got to be a risky venture.
I loved this site when the news broke - one of those so simple yet so effective ideas. I'm still waiting for my Eureka moment!
