I don't really know if I'm posting in the right topic or not, but I would like to know if there is anyone out there that can help me. I have been trying to tranfer/migrate my site from freeforums.org to hostgator.com , but for some reason they are having trouble with my backup and they are not able to have anything accomplished. If there is anyone out there that is knowledgeable or have any ideas, it would be most greatly appreciated .
If you have a backup of the files and database you should be able to restore those files anywhere and have the site work. If you only have the data then you need to install the files of the exact same version of the forum software you were using on your new host. Without knowing what the error/problem it's hard to give anything specific as to how to fix it.
We have the backup files and database. All we need is to have our site migrated. The people we have hired to do that don't seem to know how. The person who gave us our backup gave us instructions on how to do it ourselves, but to be honest here , to me it looks like a different language lol. I'm not that computer savvy ..
I've migrated more sites than I care to remember over to our hosting so if you want someone to have a look at it for you let me know, unless the new host is missing some required component or the backup is corrupted it shouldn't be that hard.
