    Hi
I own a site, 2 years old. The site sells some product. I am planning to migrate the site from ASP to PHP. The current PR of site is 2 and i am expecting atleast 4 in next google update.
Will the migration affect the links to my site i have already built up?
will the migration affect the search engine positioning, right now i get top ranking for some of the keywords?
will the migration affect my current PR?

Waiting for some suggestions. I will appreciate your help.

    Thanks,
    Ashish

Do your links end in the ASP extension? if they do you might want to do 301 redirects from the OLD link say services.asp to the new link say services.php.

It is also a good idea even with 301 redirects to have people linking to you update there links. Just send them a friendly email asking them to update there links to the new ones.

Yes Links end with ASP extension.
But all the sites have my site's home page link, which is not going to change anyways ( as i will put it same), in that case my back links will be affected or not?
Ok than 301 Redirect will be a good idea?
will PR of my site be affected?
and what about search engine positioning?
    other suggestions are also welcome.

    Thanks,
    Ashish

Ok you links should be fine but you still need to do the 301 redirects of the pages if they are indexed, that way the new pages can get indexed.

Your PR should not drop as long as when you do the change you have all the redirects in place. Granted other things can effect your PR SO I won't say it 100% won't go down it very well could go down.

Well thats why your doing the 301 redirects so you can keep your link love. So you should keep your position. Just make sure you don't forget to keep your keyword targeting when you change over.

You don't need (and probably shoudn't) to change your urls. With apache mod_rewrite module (a few rules on your .htaccess file) and automatically your .asp urls will run your new .php files.
