Migrating a flat HTML site to Wordpress

I've got a well-established flat HTML site that is becoming a real pain to administer. I want to move it to Wordpress which I much prefer.

The pain of cutting and pasting 600+ pages from HTML files into Wordpress I can live with (or hire someone to do). But I am trying to get my head round the SERPs implications.

I can use Wordpress to make each page have the same URL for the new page as the old flat page. (At least, I think I can).

But is there anything else I need to watch out for? Has anyone got any experience of moving a big flat site to Wordpress that can suggest tips?

    Thanks!
