Middle Class people are screwed

I don't know about any of you but I am terrified of what is happening in our world today. Will it ever end?

I was laid off from my job a few months ago and have not found a job yet. I have searched every day for three months. My husband has a good job but as of a month ago, they cut his hours. He doesn't even make half of what he made six months ago.

There is no help for people that have income coming in. I have no idea what we're gonna do. I'm terrified that we're gonna be homeless with two kids.

Something needs to give! Sigh Sorry, I had to vent for a minute.

    This is just life.

When something is wrong you must turn around things.

You have lost your job you say. Why don't you use the skills you have to do freelance jobs or projects online? There are always tons of projects that you can do for money, on this forum and other forums.

Use the skills you have to earn money. Everyone can earn money if they want to!

Sorry to hear about this. What kind of field are you in? I guess the area i'm in hasn't been hit like some others, but we've still had some layoffs around here.

In pretty much the same boat here Kyliemeg. My husband just got laid off Friday from a job he had only started in Sept. after being off work for 4-5 months. I make a pittance where I am. Luckily we sold a vintage car he had (not for near what it was actually worth) but that money won't last long. The economy is in the tank, it's hard to even keep your head above water.:(

Although some said that the economy will get worst in 2009, but I believed that as long as you're trying to find jobs, you'll finally make it.

Kylie, I wish you all the luck...

I'm sorry you lost your job. Take it as an opportunity to make a career move perhaps. Even if you don't want to do it long-term, now is actually a great time to freelance for example - independent contractors can charge more than an hourly employee salary-wise, but they're still cheaper for the company to hire than full-time staff b/c they don't have the same expenses on their end (retirement contributions, insurance, man hours to deal with employee record-keeping for taxes, bonuses and paid time off, etc.). Companies often want the same amount of work done, but using fewer resources. By freelancing, you may be able to make out pretty well with it. Just something to consider, depending on what line of work you're in.

I never expected this to happen in the fielf that I'm in. I worked as a Paralegal for twelve years. The law firm down sized drastically and many people there lost their jobs. Unfortunately, I was one of them.

Paralegal? You could pick up pocket money around here selling "educational" legal forms. Not practicing law, just providing forms for educational purposes.

Edit: And I am sorry for your troubles. I am betting on you to be a surviror.

Try to see the bright side. This free time gives you the opportunity to start honing your Internet marketing skills so you do not have to be dependent on others.

Yes and they are getting what they wish for because it's scaring the hell out of me.
I have three kids, one who is 21 and out of the house, the other two are small and need a shelter, clothes and so on. When I lost my job, things were bad but not quite as bad as they are since my husband's hours have been reduced drastically. We can't get any help from the state or county because he still makes decent money but we can't live off of it. We've already sold our house to down size. Now, we can't afford to pay rent. I've been speaking with so many people about this and it seems that it's not just happening to us but to everyone. I sure don't want to be homeless and out on the street but I've just about down sized until there is nothing more to down size. Then what?
