People you are forgetting....if you have XP this doesn't affect you at all! Except if you buy a new PC. Even then you can use your old copy of XP instead of Vista if you want.

the only reason they are doing this it because vista did not do as well as they wanted it too
there is not pont making people use somthig they dont want to. Because they are using something that works.
there is now way they will be able to stop xp updates as it not going to work as long as people dont use vista
and plus i think M$ would loss a court case again as well.

Get a mac or try out all the Linux discos out there some free and some that you pay for.
there is more to a computer then windows.

and most update they make do really keap your computer update every is other software company's that do most of the work

If Microsoft was little bit smart, they would have stopped the production of Vista and
    continue selling Windows XP. ;)

Well, it's called marketing. Why would I want to support something "old and used" if I launched a "brand new, technically advanced, super duper leet extra special heavy metal" product that a lot of people like? :p Whoever doesn't like Vista yet, will now be forced to like it (or to find an alternative).

As for "Windows XP lovers": check the post above, author fadetoblack22. I agree.

    What do you expect?
They are working on Windows 7 right now, not to mention all the problems they have to fix with Vista.

Remember Microsoft is a big corporation who makes a hell of a lot of money. When support for XP is dropped within the retail sector anyway, people will start upgrading because it's going to be a case of move it or loose it. A great majority of consumers will simply upgrade, some will stay with XP, however within the next 5 years Vista will become the next biggest thing.

I don'tsupport Vista, it's slow, annoying with popups about security, and as far as I can see not great value for money, however if you had Windows 98 on your machine I guarantee it would be faster right now, did you choose Windows 98 ?. The same with Windows 2000 and XP happened.

The one thing that XP has going for it is that yes it is good value for money, however Microsoft is not making money from it any more, they want us all to pay the upgrade charge into their bank accounts which they have missed for the past 5 or so years, maybe from some of us, even longer.

So I want XP to stay in the market place, however I am sure this time they will cut XP support and Vista's going nowhere. It just makes business sense, well for Microsoft anyway.
