If Google goes bankrupt, so will Adsense. And do you think Microsoft will be any better than Google? My guess is - worse!

Google’s monopoly is an evident fact, and there is no wonder that Microsoft (another 'giant') tries to take control. However, Microsoft vs. Google confrontation won't put the market in order. One of them will stay a dominant anyway.
The technological progress requires market competitiveness for the advancement, while Google monopoly impedes new search technologies development. It‘s time for alternatives to existing search engines. Maybe newly launched Incubator of Search Engines (www.omfica.org) can assure market competitiveness?

Apparently MSN and Yahoo have met in Sunnyvale to discuss the merger about 2 weeks back. Meanwhile, Google completed its $3.1 billion acquisition of online ad service, DoubleClick Inc.

Schmidt's a douchebag anyway - he is doing the exact same thing with his own company. The DoubleClick merger, closed, proprietary data storage systems, and close-kept SE algorithms and even payouts to advertising partners are just a few examples. Google is a not a transparent company, and it is not a good company. These are my views.

Oh Yeah... Any company whose monopoly is threatened acts the same way. Imagine having such a good time without any serious competition :) And now the richest company (Microsoft) wants to compete and has raised the bid! They are determined to get Yahoo...

Google is the king of the best search engines. Google dominates 60% search engine market. Then Yahoo 20%. And Live (formely MSN) 10%.

Live + Yahoo = 30%. Again, Google is still the king....

I agree to some extent but it about the minds of experts from MSN and Yahoo together - this could be more than just 20% + 10%.... just a thought

If MS keeps Yahoo!'s brand intact, sure it might work well. But they are not good at executing consumer-facing services. So I don't know.

Google sounds just as scared as when Steve Jobs made his comment about the Zune being a "clunky Apple iPod alternative with no sex appeal".

Look at where the Zune is today.

I share your point of view, coz the internet is created as a data repository consolidated in transparent "directory" for the public view and usage. While nowadays we see that Google neglects its dominant position on the market and makes money from anything, even from manipulation of serach results. Google's policy just stinks. :(

I think sooner or later Microsoft will buy out Yahoo. I wonder how many companies are out there that Microsoft wanted to buy out but could not??

Yes, Microsoft want to buy Yahoo, and who knows maybe the deal will succeed. However we talk about Microsoft which tries to buy companies, but noone talks about the Google that has already baught several internet companies increasing its power and dominance on inet.

Of Course Google will say that. They will say anything. They are just doing a publicity stunt to get the word out they do not approve of the merger. Especially since Microsoft got to Yahoo before Google. And they want to complain publicaly to show good faith to boards like the FCC or whatever government agency that approves the merger. They want to get the word out and drum up support so they can prove to the FCC why the merger shouldnt take place.

To me they are just doing it because they have lost some ground as being the best SE. And not only that, they just plain down right dont like the competition. Google was/is an Imperalistic king/Pig. They dont like others to greedy and rich. Apparently they are the only ones. And they should set the net standards..................

Yes, Google may complain against Microsoft and Yahoo merger, however they will keep their throne of Internet giant and dominant. This way will have no seriouse influence on Google's business. It demands another approach, that is advanced search technologies development and promotion.
