lmao the joke of the century would be Ebay joining Amazon and Libre Comercio. That'd be the perfect monopoly.

If I were a Yahoo! shareholder and read Ballmer's letter to Yang I'd be in tears right now.

It is a smart move for Microsoft rather than drawing into a protracted proxy war with Yahoo. But it is a loss for Yahoo shareholders, considering that before Microsoft takeover bid, the price of Yahoo shares was $18 it went to $30 when Microsoft announced the takeover. I can't imagine how it will nosedive on Monday.

It will probably get back down to $18-20 a share, I would expect a lot of lawsuits from Shareholders against yahoo and its board of directories.

Instead of wasting it on Yahoo Microsoft can divert it's money to other useful purposes

$43 billion was alot for a company, but at the end it is better that Yahoo stay independant

Microsoft might be back in the future to buy Yahoo if battle with Google heats up

    :)

Nah that won't be happening... if they do then it will make microsoft look like idiots for not buying it now.
But it was a BAD decision for them because since Yahoo is gonna be releasing their new Ad system, AMP it will only make them richer... and Microsoft just can't compete. They should stick to making software and leave the Search Engining to the pros.

Yahoo CEO is an absolute idiot. He's going to get hammered with shareholder lawsuits now. Yahoo stock is going to drop like a rock on Monday. Count on it.

lol if they do then... WOW I just realized.. it's all part of Google's genious plan! They are letting Yahoo die on it's own so that the only pathetic competitor left is Microsoft!
    Sergey is a genious!

Except that software is being moved online, and there is a real threat that google through its advertising system would be able to offer similar programs like Microsoft for free through an ad supported network, which would leave Microsoft in trouble. This was Microsoft attempt to look at the big picture.

    why?

Yahoo is going nowhere. Google is destroying it and further its massive market share lead.

I pushed for this! Yahoo wanted to play around and try to intimidate MSN, by teaming with Google, but it’s Google and MSN who’s going to have a party, haha! Smart MSN; don’t stand to be intimidated by wimp Yahoo, smart Google for pretending to be Yahoo’s “pal”. They all win except Yahoo and their retarded ass, keep delaying the deal to intimidate MSN. I was prepared to kick MSN and YAHOO to the curb if MSN continued to be the fool and Yahoo continued to intimidate MSN, and I would’ve stick with smart G.

I think that people at Yahoo! have made a serious mistake which will cost them dearly in the coming years. By serving Google Adsense ads in its search results, they are actually signaling the end of their own effort to build an advertisement network. I wouldn’t be surprised if a year or so down the line, Yahoo! decides to pull the plug on its own search engine and once again starts relying on Google for search results.

This is bad. It would have been good if M$ had bought Yahoo!. They might have beat Google :(
