It's not a press release, but it's not your everyday newsletter either. Microsoft sublty confirmed that they made a huge mistake with Vista. Microsoft Pledges Windows XP Support Through 2014 So what do they have to lose with this decision? Not much. Since a new copy er... I mean licence of Windows will cost about the same, regardless of its version, what they will lose out on is those who would have "upgraded" from XP. Now, since that was obviously not happening this was the only logical move not to lose customers because of unpatched, unsecure, unworkable XPs. ... They leaked a promise for Windows 7 yet again ( 2010 ) in order to make sure you know the schedule: if Vista is not for you, upgrade to 7 from XP. I just hope they won't *rush* its development beyond reason.
Good to hear users saying that, Vista isn't not a good OS at all. Many bugs still in the system, as well as those "pretty effects" of vista suck up a lot of video memory and VIsta overall is quite a memory hogger.
Microsoft is going to support Windows XP till the time they are not able to develop some other operating system which is better then this XP and is unlike Vista (the resource eater).
I'm not too much of a fan on xp but my experiences were with the original xp. After getting the blue screen of death a few times I stuck with windows 2000. I've been running sp2 without any problems lately. Hope microsoft gets with the program.
I'm just annoyed I wasted £100 on Vista premium now. It has nice effects with the Aero, but thats the only thing I like. I'll take performance over visual effects anyway, which is why my custom built gaming PC that is coming soon is having XP. Then I can actually play games without them crashing.
That is great news, XP is my best OS. They will have more time to resolved all the problem with Vista.
best news I've heard all year, my blood pressure skyrockets when I hear the word VISTA I ran VISTA for little under a week and I have nothing good to say, simply put its a joke
