Well I am happy though that they are making the right moves in Fixing it before they release it. I'd rather see it delayed for bug fixing then have it released with full of bugs.
I wonder why Microsoft was not aware of these security concerns when they announced mid 2006 will be right time for releasing vista.
I agree with delaying to fix bugs, but do you honestly think they will go longer than March 2007 before needing to release a huge patch to fix even more bugs and security holes? So, in the end is it worth it to hurt the pc manufacturers when a patch will probably be necessary within a couple months of release anyway?
I have demoed almost every build of Vista back when 4074 was around and I see why there are many delays. This next OS is out of this world IMO. Maybe there are some recent build bugs that they need fixed or they a little more time to fix ALL the bugs. I have used build 5308 since it released and I can say Vista is shaping up to be a very good OS I've ever seen by Microsoft.
Boo-hoo... that's me not being too concerned. No doubt the first thing I'll be doing if I have to use it (when it is finally released) is turning off all the usual windows crap that sends me into cronic fits of insanity. Note: not MS/Windows basher, just picky about my OS's and especially UI pollution.
I'm disappointed about the delay, but not that surprised. But I had planned to buy a shiny new toy for Christmas. Oh well, maybe I'll make it a Groundhog's day present to myself.
Well if you have used any of the recent Vista builds you will find it a lot more awesome then XP by far. I've started using Vista 5308 for my main OS even if it is beta it blows XP away. I guess I do have to stay up to date with the Windows Programming stuff because I develop with .NET And the new stuff MS is putting in Vista for .NET Developers is just amazing as well.
well, i think it just may be a marketing scheme - you know, say it's pushed back til 1/07 but then around 11/15/06 make an announcement that it's ready and being shipped with new computers. The demand would be so great in just a few days they could sell out their supply before christmas.
They're probably just waiting to see what happens with blue ray protection and trying to implement more DRM evil things .. on the other hand it must be something serious if they're forced to lose the best selling month, December..
Nice point about Blu Ray... that whole DVD format fight is going to be interesting. I wonder who will be left standing when it is all said and done... SEO Jeff - are you able to tell us anything specifically different and better about Vista over XP?
Sure, Vista's foundation is so much better then XP's it is not funny. Installation time is even quicker then XP is for me. Also the whole Windows API is now managed code using WinFX instead of Win32. Security is much tighter in Vista then it is in XP. Same with Internet Explorer 7. Visual side of things it's a nicer looking OS and icons can go as far as 250x250 pixels without any quality defects. It's 3d power is much better then it is in XP. I'll attach some screen shots here I have in a little bit if anyone's interested.
For businesses will still be released in Nov. this year. It is the home version that has been pushed back further. My son has a beta version of it and he says it is the best ever. So when the business version comes out, he will get me a copy.
He is in Texas, and he is a bit slow at times sending me stuff. Right now, he is supposed to send me dreamweaver and photoshop, among others. Will see....LOL
Anybody here know what the possible pricepoints will be for the business version and personal versions of Vista?
From a bunch to a humongous bunch! From what I gather, the business edition will be like their previous ones, you have to buy a license for xx copies.
