Well, at the moment, I will not upgrade to VISTA from Windows XP but of course, it does not mean that I will not get VISTA on new computers. I've just got a Dell 640m with VISTA Home Basic just to test and it seems neat. It seems like a hybrid of XP and Mac OS X. A tad bit slow but still useable. I guess it is a matter of getting use to. It does seems a lot more stable and secure than XP.
I have Windows XP and Windows Vista Home Premium dual booted, however I am slowly switching over. I prefer Vista's slick looks and it doesn't have any negative speed effects on my system. So far all of my common applications seem to work fine.
Had the same problem. Had to reformat pretty fast, can't stand the hum of my computer. Need my music!
xp! all rpogram are for xp, all drivers, etc... ill need at least 1yr to change to vista (all the drivers would be for vista, softwares, etc...)
I upgraded to vista on my laptop and it was really slow, (3 month old laptop). did a clean install after wiping the drive and that was much better but still very annoying, used most of my memory to use the most basic of apps. back on XP and loving it!!! its prob the most stable windows environment ever, still prefer MAC OSX though. might look at running linux soon, any tips anyone
I have been using linux for more than 3 years, mostly Ubuntu, and not going back... I just wish Dreamweaver existed for linux.
The vista "theme" isn't a theme. It now uses pure directx to run instead of GDI+ which was extremely slow, but at the same time this requires a quite powerful video card.
I found this site;when you search for vista is in the first results. http://badvista.fsf.org From site quote: "Vista enforces new forms of “Digital Rights Management (DRM)â€. DRM is more accurately called Digital Restrictions Management, because it is a technology that Big Media and computer companies try to impose on us all, in order to have control over how our computers are used." What do you think, now?
Hi, I suggest you to not waste your Vista by switching over to it and then go to your audio card brand's website and look for their patch/new driver installtion for your audio drive, I'm sure they have it.... Good luck.
actually, my apps start faster and everything is smooth. Getright install was done after half a sec. Installing took less time than for xp. But, on the side note, I had to disable some of the UAC to enable normal editing not only on desktop. But that is not serious problems.
I had to download graphic drivers from hp website and that is it. My wireles was supported. I think Vista can replace xp - it is better and something fresh. We need to move somewhere. Aero interface is smooth again - but divx drivers cannot live with aero now. Its just a temporary problem - windows is switching aero on and of automatically. But aero is nothing much. Im using Vista on my laptop. It is running perfectly and hp already has all drivers. No performance problems in any area - everything is fine. specs: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU T5200 @ 1.60 GHZ 1.60GHZ RAM 2046 MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 Windows Vista Ultimate
Hy, I am using both os vista and xp, but i most compact with vista because it is very powerful than xp it alsp provide a beautiful GUI in compare xp , and most one that it AERO and 3D facilities make it's remarkable so i would very happy in using vista, thanks.
Vista has an excellent interface compared to XP. Most of my applications are compatible, but I can't get any of my favorite games to work on Vista.

Since Windows ME, all Microsoft Systems are just "cosmetic" upgrades with full multimedia support and plenty of spyware and security holes, but a few improvents for real working environments
Do you have ANY reason to say this? or is it just another random "I hate M$" reply without any basis? Vista might not be as cool as OS X but that doesnt make it a bad OS, as such. If it were actually a "bad" OS, Microsoft wouldn't be making so much money off it (and prior versions of windows).
