At an ACM presentation at the University of Illinois last weekend, Microsoft's Eric Traut revealed that its working on slimming down the next major release of Windows by starting from a bare-bones kernel known as "MinWin"and then only adding what's necessary. http://weblog.infoworld.com/openresource/archives/2007/10/microsoft_to_sl.html?source=rss
that would be a great step. At least we can choose to add what we want and discard the rest of the stuff.
thats a much better option taking into consideration that i dont use most of the features available on the windows.
It is great if Microsoft sticks to the idea. Fundamentally Microsoft is incapable of pulling it off since they want to control every aspect of your life. Hope they do thou
Ya cool mabye they will turn off some of those unneeded running services too that are always on by default that we dont really need.
