Microsoft To Slim Down Windows

At an ACM presentation at the University of Illinois last weekend, Microsoft's Eric Traut revealed that its working on slimming down the next major release of Windows by starting from a bare-bones kernel known as "MinWin"and then only adding what's necessary.

that would be a great step. At least we can choose to add what we want and discard the rest of the stuff.

 

We are already doing this and don't need MS. After they slim down we will have to slim it even more

 

Sounds good to me but for some reason I have my doubts if they'll pull through.

 

I like the sound of this... But I too have doubts.

 

And maybe it'll be ready by 2024.

thats a much better option taking into consideration that i dont use most of the features available on the windows.

 

That is great! Windows is already quite bloated. The reduction will be a welcome change.

 

It is great if Microsoft sticks to the idea. Fundamentally Microsoft is incapable of pulling it off since they want to control every aspect of your life. Hope they do thou

Ya cool mabye they will turn off some of those unneeded running services too that are always on by default that we dont really need.
