Well that doesnot mean you have to agree with everything they do. Its like we believe if we agree with everything google does we will get more adsense clicks.

It's impossible a Google offer for Yahoo to go through . Google knows that and thats why they will not make one. Neither US neither Europe will allow such a deal.

I hope they dont make yahoo like msn search. That would be complete and utter bs. As yahoo is already better.

The government would never allow it, they investgated google into its purchase of doubleclick. You think they'll let google operate 80% of the search market.

Microsoft is way ahead of Yahoo in terms of search results quality. They just need the user base that Yahoo has.

I hope that Microsoft and Yahoo!, if Yahoo! decides to accept the bid, stays apart. I'd like to keep my Yahoo! Search Marketing and Microsoft adCenter accounts separate. ;)

This would, however, be a very good move for Microsoft in-terms of competing with search engine giant Google.

I disagree. I am ranked well with a generic english keyword in Live Search. What is above me is trash, including a site written in a different language.

To the general issue - Microsoft's purchase of Yahoo...

Most large buyouts result in employees being let go, because operations are streamlined (merged). I suspect this would be no different. The end result may eventually mean the loss of a major search engine, and any way you cut it that is bad for webmasters.

What would be best for webmasters is if Yahoo and/or the government said no to the purchase. That might force Microsoft to actually invest some money into its search engine and compete.

Anyway, I would be shocked if Yahoo agreed to the deal and if it got an ok from the government.

I think this can be nothing but good things for YPN. What do you guys think?

Because YPN has been stuck in Beta since the creation of the universe.

Finally some real challenge for Google on their own turf if this goes true, we may have a better YPN or even higher Adsense payouts as competition makes them treat publishers better.

1000 Yahoo employees already received pink slips, I don't think things will be worse.

I'm not saying Microsoft is great. Google is way better. But Yahoo search just plain sucks. I know because I had yahoo search installed in my browser so I can debug my PPC campaigns and I would sometimes forget to switch to google or MSN and do a useful query to Yahoo and most of the time results were plain garbage.

That depends, the one thing microsoft hasn't done is release a free os. The person who realeses a free os that has all the compatabilt down for everything, games, software, file types will put them down.

I know microsoft has only part of my desktops. I have 2 pcs on microsoft and have 2 on linux.

I say it's a interesting move, but in the end i think yahoo will take the deal.

I really don't think Google will have anything to worry about. Google 'owns' a good amount of the internet and I can't see Microsoft and Yahoo (together) taking Google out. The most that will come out of this will probably be a little competiton for Google, but nothing more.

    Hello....

MSN wont let it happen Microsoft makes $42B bid for Yahoo....
Everytime google wants something like "facebook" or now "Yahoo",
MSN steps in and offers a sick amount just so that google cant own it.

Now what will MSN gain from this?
Simple more "advertising power" and a larger chunk of the search results as
well as keep google in check...

    thx

Ok, lets imagine this deals goes true and Microsoft buys Yahoo. Google have approximately half of the American market in online advertisement. Microsoft and Yahoo but together will represent about 30%. Microsoft will surely represent more competition for Google, but what do you think is Microsoft strategy to win this battle ?

there are many of duplicated service so I guess first thing will be done is integration

then if M was smart enough they can finally really hurt google :D

live search+yahoo search vs google search
yahoo messenger + windows messenger vs google talk
live webmaster + yahoo site explorer vs google webmaster
    and so on

but the most important thing is will be this
Ad Center + YNP VS Ad Sense
and this the point what I think M will start war on it
