What I worry about is Microsoft messing up Yahoo.. I use Yahoo a lot for various things.

I also worry about Yahoo messing up Microsoft, although I use Microsoft less, I do use some Microsoft online tools.

If they merged and started putting stuff on the chopping block, I'm sure in one way or another I will be inconvenienced.

Not to mention the loss of competition and thus innovation.. they will have a lot of smart engineers looking at ways to merge and combine stuff rather than improving products for quite a while..

Maybe this is really just a gift to Google - give them a chance to move even further ahead.

I don't think you need to worry about Yahoo messing up Microsoft, this looks like an acquisition rather than a merger of equals. However your worries about Microsoft messing up Yahoo is not unfounded. Just hope that they will enhance and improve upon current Yahoo products and expand into more and greater services.

Maybe it would be Ask. Wouldn't it be a kick if IAC merges with Yahoo.

If you notice the word I used...it said Tangible. There is a difference in advertising value and tangible value.

I would never, ever imagine that Google, Yahoo, or Microsoft would acquire any of each other.

Will be a great alternative to adsense and will have other benefits. If they change the Yahoo Management Team maybe they become bigger. Google is using people , they are working for big profit and not in people interest. Hope changes will come and Google Superiority will vanish. They are the big guys now , but they can become the chicken.

Hmm. News Corp, Disney, and other media company's have little 'tangible' value. Revenue is from ads, mostly. I see quite a few investments there :)

I heard latest news about this deal, Yahoo may alliance with Google. What a twist in the world of searching going on? What will be the strategy of Google now? Will it is going to become Goyahoo ?

Imo it would be in Googles best interest to partner with yahoo.

Although Microsoft acquiring Yahoo will probably pose little threat to Google

Google would probably benefit greatly from having yahoo under its belt.

In no way it will be called Goyahoo! as google will not own yahoo.

I can enhances it search, combine the user base of Hotmail and Yahoo Mail. Most important thing is I suspect they would use Live search and integrate into Yahoo.

I have always maintained that search engines will be moving towards more reliance on user behaviour data than linkage data. Yahoo with it huge user database could offer something to microsoft engineers to work upon and try to create an alternative to Google.

Irony is Google is the new Microsoft wanting to be the monopoly and complaining of anti-trust issues about this deal. Until not too long ago, Google was the underdog and the one trying to upstage Microsoft.
Microsoft is now finds itself on the other side siding with the underdog (Yahoo) and fighting the big guy.
    Moral of all this:
    1) Just goes to show what Power can do to the small guy and Google can no longer claim to be the underdog 'cos it is now behaving like Big Brother now.
    2) Like Politics, there are no permanent enemies in business. Until not too long ago, Yahoo was sponsoring Google and Yahoo was anti-Microsoft. :)

Yahoo needs to do something but I'm not sure climbing into bed with Microsoft is a good idea. :(

The price will probably go up more before there is an actual deal.

I doubt so, few potential suitors, no one going out, Google is out be default, the price itself is already a very high premium.
