Google is pretty awesome. But Microsoft has the funds and brains to rival it along with the base Yahoo's built up

Microsoft is already swaggering that it vows to never give up until it has complete dominance:

    http://biz.yahoo.com/nytimes/080202/1194743058811.html?.v=8

........"If we have to lie, cheat, steal, or bribe the government......we will relentlessly keep pounding until our 90% share of the PC market with our crappy stuff is 100%........till all competition is destroyed, and we alone milk the public, forever. AHHAHAHAAAhaaaaa!!! ****thunderclap***"

Aw, CEOs are so cute. Well good luck there richy-boy, run along now.......pop a few caviar bottles for me if you do crush them................

How can "Google be stronger than Microsoft" when Microsoft can buy Google in cash.... Some of these comparisons are just surreal, you are totally uninformed.

I am a big big fan of Google and the whole approach they took to web search, etc. But being realistic, Google has a LONG way to grow before they can even threaten MSFT.

And Yahoo is the biggest site on the globe. If this deal goes through, this is obviously the Web's most powerful company ever.

Remember: Google is a promess, it has not gotten there YET. The fact you THINK they are the biggest is fruit of their very well crafted marketing.

    This would be fantastic news.
    Two search engines.
My gut feeling is that a smaller third company would then emerge to do battle with the mighty duo, in years from now.

First, I can only say GOD I hope this does not happen. Microsoft is big enough as it is.

Just as anything the internet users will go the path of least resistance for search.

What is Google that Microsoft and yahoo is not?

A simple search interface that works well.

Think about this! It is so simple a concept that bill gates and yahoo are not able to grasp it.

Google also had the funky cool counter culture thing going for them for most of their early years. They are fast losing a lot of that now but still they have it.

Google has TOMA or Top Of Mind Awareness with internet users as something that just works and something that is also cool to use.

Of the two companies Microsoft and Yahoo Yahoo could easily match this if they knew a thing or two but I am starting to think that with the corporate culture they are just not capable of grasping what their own problems are when it comes to competing with Google.

A highly paid CEO simply can not and will not ever accept that what they need to compete with Google is simplicity.

Why? because to imply this would be to admit they are paid to much and are not really needed as the concept of simple also means low cost low overhead and thus over paid CEO's are redundant and just not needed.

So Google is safe until some counter culture underdog comes along and redefines what simple cool search really is.

Microsoft and Yahoo will never get it. They are quite simply way past the point of knowing or admitting what their own problems are when it comes to what is needed to knock Google of its perch as the king of search.

Some day in some garage somewhere will be born the new leader in the internet search arena. He/she will have to come up the same way Google did. This is the only way the coolness and counter culture part will be realized. The only way they will be accepted by the open source mindset so prevalent on the internet. The rest will follow if the brain power is there to back it up. It will be like a wave that starts out small and builds to tsunami size just as Google did.

Microsoft Google and yahoo will be powerless to stop it. You just can't fight cool. When the new cool comes it will wash over the internet and everything in it's path and be welcomed by all who call themselves users of search.

    I have it he he.

Been working on it for a while but I am no programmer and I need to get the interface up and running and patented.

I can tell you this. It will be all open source.

Now back to the garage to get this launched. It will so blow everything out there away and it will be funky counter culture cool. That is why it will be the future of search. Well, that and a bunch of other reasons I just can't disclose yet.

This is above all going to be so much fun because everyone will get to participate. Nothing is as cool as a 10 million new friends helping you (SETI Style) with something because they believe in it and want it to happen as much as you do. Open source ROCKS!

I know everyone will laugh at this hehe. I hope I can really pull it off. I'll just have to get back to work and see if I can make it happen.

MS has never been successful in the online world, why should acquiring Yahoo change this? Even after this merger Google still has the greater market share and will remain the world's most popular search engine, with technology far superior to both Microsoft and Yahoo, even in conjunction with one another.
