All non-Chinese internet companies will fall when chinese big companies expand to the world. Baidu vs. Google.. Baidu wins.. Facebook vs. [Chinese social media].. It's all in favor of chinese owned companies.

Microsoft buy things to make them more $$$'s... MS DOS was actually bought from another company, but on topic, i think ciao will remain as it is... it seems like a thriving, but not well known community

I don't think Ciao.com is worth that much but it probably is more of a publicity stunt.

100% agreed. They need to increase revenue in an attempt to stand a chance near google.

I think Microsoft knows better than us what they are doing If they have bought ciao there is deep thinking behind it. As far competiting against Google at this moment they are trying to prevent sliding of MSN

Ciao is huge in the UK and just starting out in the US. It was a good move as MS wants to expand their reach and integrate some ciao into Live Search as much as they can. If ciao can grow as big as it is in the UK, then it can help them a little bit, but its all about diversification.
