"Patch Tuesday" came and went, and in a surprising rollout brought with it the largest series of updates from Microsoft in over a year. This time the company has released fixes for a number of critical flaws in a number of Microsoft products, including Windows OS, Office, and Internet Explorer. In all, 11 security updates have been issued. Of these, five rank as 'critical' and six are marked 'important'.

While these patches are of course important, it leaves one to ponder why they were rushed out at this point. Vista SP1 is just weeks away, and there's no doubt these fixes would have been rolled into the service pack.;)
