Very interesting for me qwestion. I like Linux & and use it at home. But mought use W XP for a long time. I know Linux strange system, but for first. If you can do setting comfortable for you - OS will working very good. What are you thinking: Linux or Wi? P.S. I use Kubuntu
Well, everything depends on the special computing jobs and tasks you are doing. For business type people and home users, Windows is the better system, since so many other softwares and custom applications are compatible with them.
I prefer windows xp over any other operating system. My linux i run is good but not as good. Most computers now come with xp or vista anyway apart from notebooks which come with their own os.
Honestly it depends on what you're going to use it for Gaming = Windows Photo Editing, Video Editing, Design, etc = Mac Coding, Servers, "Hacking" (yeah you read that right), etc = Linux They can all be used for "personal" uses mozilla, word processors, etc.
I've tried Red Hat, but went back to Windows because *nix is just too overly complicated. I don't want to spend most of my time fighting with the os.
I also prefer windows xp over any other operating system. I tried *nix but it is just complicated, I think *nix isn't for me.
MicroS***S = Its too commont things Id go to Mac = I can still do some hacking, coding, or even Video n photo editor Mac good for both.. No more hang, No more Crash, n No more BSOD (bluee screen of death) CMIWW
too bad mac sucks at gaming I wish linux was better for gaming too but until hardware manufacturers start looking at linux with a serious face we won't see any updates.
For general use I would say that linux is what you should go for. Windows only for gaming and photohshop! Linux being faster, more secure, is the better one around. You'll certainly be less prone to virus and similar threats. If you have the misconception that Linux is harder to use then think again 'cause with all new desktop environments like gnome, kde and xfce, linux has become pretty easier to use. I am with linux and use ubuntu.
