I think you're fine until you do the save to the .___x extension. Then if you try to open it in 2003, you will be prompted to install a converter which will allow you to open it.
2007 is a superior product, but the learning curve is steeper because of the increased functionality. One excellent feature is the easy accessibility of document templates from the web repository, as well as increased support for external datasets (not just Access and SQL). If you can afford 2007, or have access to a copy through other means, then I highly recommend giving it a shot. You can even revert 2007 back to the 2003 look/feel if the changes are too drastic for you.
oh yea, they are compatable to one another, if you got the money go for the newest, if not then settle for the cheaper one or try the Open Source version since its free and mostly compatable
hello all, it is really interesting, 2007 office update and new version it's easy to solve and 2007 is more easy as compared to 2003. keep posting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes! They can still open the .doc file with Office 07. But .docx file from Office 07 to Office 03 there would be a problem. *For you to open Office 07 file to Office 03. Make sure that you save the file in format of Office 98-2003 (*.doc) (If I remember it right?!) hehehe. Thanks!
yes a 2007 user can open the file of 2003 office .. but the 2003 user can't open the file of 2000 office.. the extensions are different so go for 2007...
I agree backward compatibility is a problem but MS office 2007 is very productive for work specially the RIBBON concept is very good only this you need to know how to use it in a better way rather than abuse the ribbon.Saving in .doc is added asset for older versions.
Office 2007 is the best Office version so far. 2007 has corrected a lot of the annoying old things in earlier versions and gives you much improved things like the conditional formatting in Excel and the graphics formatting in Word. If you don't like 2007, it is because you have not had any training on it.
Office documents in older versions of Office can be opened in latest versions . So you can open DOC (office 2003 ) file in Office 2007 system . But the DOCX (Office 2007) needs a free compatibility pack Microsoft to make them work on Office 2003 system .
I would say if you prefer the old office format layout to stick with 2003 but if you want to go new then 2007 is a good option also.
I prefer to use office 2003, first because i have used to it, second because 2007 can not identify TRADOS. Sabrina Gage _____________________ Comm100-Free Hosted Online Chat
