It can, but the first time you try, Word 2003 will prompt you to apply a fix that will allow you to open it.

Well, you can download office file compatible converter, it is free, then you can open and edit the PowerPoint 2007 well in PowerPoint 2003.

HI, the file which is in Ms-office 2003 can't be opened in ms-office 2007. For that, we need one such software to convert it it compatible format. Go to Microsoft website and search for file convert software.

Yep you can. Just save it as "97 -2003 Documents" option there.
Then it wil be opened on any version of microsoft office.

I prefer office 2007 over 2003. I agree with a lot of the points but Office 2007 is by far the best for the sheer amount of features available. It is so easy to make professional looking reports and presentations and also can be tailored to suit the beginner as well as the advanced users

I much prefer 2007 over 2003. I use it for all my college work - it's absolutely brilliant.

The UI is very different to 2003 but once you get used to it you will probably prefer it.

I've tried OOo but didn't think that much of it - it may have changed since I last used it but it was awfulling slow and writing documents over 10 pages resulted in horrid 'lags' as I scrolled.

2007 is a bit pricey though but I think it's worth it in the long run - I use some aspect of it every day

Had you saved them in the 2003 format (which you can easily do with 2007) then you wouldn't have had that problem.

Yes, you are face som problem to open old office files in office 2007 .

i always face problem when i open my old project report 2003 office files in my friend pc who instol the office2007 my file is not open it shows the rong fonts. I think it is better to use Microsoft office 2003 than microsoft office2007. Microsoft office 2003 is easy to use.

Office 2007 is not backward compatible with Office 2003, but the other way works fine. Meaning if you want to send Office 2003 to 2007 users, the file will open up fine! Although I do like Office 2007 for the following reasons:

    • Memory: Usable memory for formulas and pivot caches is increased to 2 gigabytes (GB) from 1 GB in Microsoft Office Excel 2003, 128 megabytes (MB) in Microsoft Excel 2002, and 64 MB in Microsoft Excel 2000.

    • Smart recalculation limits: The dependency limits that enable smart recalculation rather than full calculation are now limited only by available memory rather than 8,000 cells dependent on a single area and 64,000 areas having dependencies.

    • Array formulas: Full column references are now allowed, and the limit on array formulas referring to another worksheet is increased from 65,000 to available memory.

    • PivotTables: Maximum rows displayed in a PivotTable report is 1 million. Maximum columns displayed in a PivotTable report is 16,000. Maximum number of unique items within a single Pivot field is 1 million. Maximum number of fields visible in the Fields list is 16,000.

    • Sorting: Levels increased from 3 to 64.

    • AutoFilter: Drop-down list length changed from 1,000 items to 10,000 items.

    • Maximum formula length: Increased from 1,000 to 8,000.

    • Formula nesting levels: Increased from 7 to 64.

    • Arguments in a function: Increased from 30 to 255.

    • Conditional formats per cell: Increased from 3 to available memory.

    • Unique cell styles in a workbook: Increased from 4,000 to 64,000.

    • Unique colors per workbook: Increased from 56 to 4.3 billion.

    • Characters in a cell that can be displayed and printed: Increased to 32,000.

And with all those enhancements, MS has pushed Excel to the point where it can't function. Do a search for "Excel 2007 Slow" and see how many hits you get. I've sat for minutes waiting for a graph with no more than 365 points and two trend lines to redraw.

Any file of office 2003 will open in 2007 but 2007 will not open in 2003.
New version will always accept old version but old version never except new version.
