Hi is the Microsoft Office Live Basic plan really free? It is offering free domain and web hosting? I don't get it. Why is it free?

Though initially it may be free, but later entrants will be charged, I suppose:)

So it is really free now? Free domain registration plus free web hosting? Has anybody tried it? Is it really free or after some months we have to start paying or our accounts suspended. If it's really free I wouldn't mind trying.

It is truly free, but they do try to upsell you at every step. The domain is yours though. I believe they register it on your behalf through Melbourne IT.

The free hosting is like an old fashioned free web page. You won't be able to host anything other than simple pages that are built using their site builder. You can create a very simple site for free and add links to, plus the free email.

If I remember correctly it is only free for USA and a selected number of countries. This scheme is not implemented worldwide yet.

Yes it is free but there is no way to add stuff like adsense. I used them for a little over a year and when you close the account, you can keep the free domain name. They give you a step by step to change the information to your name. I kept mine and transfered it to Name Cheap. wisdomtool is right, you can only use it for those two countries. It has been free for at least 3 years now. It is a nice way to play around with your own website for no cost. You can sell links and banner ads but you can not add ad services.

I can assure you also it is good only for very basic sites, there is a promotion by register.com for a free domain, get that, and get a free no ads hosting from one of the providers like insanegb.com here. It would be far better and flexible.
