Interface was clunky for me. I didn't care for the slider at all. Load time was slow; servers probably getting crushed. Results = typical MSN... which of course are great for making money since they show love to the new sites.

edit: I went to compare some more searches.. same results for my sites as in MSN. And then I started getting 'server not responding' errors :p

One of the reasons google became popular is because it's UI didn't have all the baggage. It was straight forward...insert query and hit search. From a visual stand point; nothing detracted you. MSN originally made it's $$$ from advertising on article pages not from sponsored search placement.

if it is search.live.com I like it.
It's clean. Google is starting to stuff a bunch of CRAP as the first results like lowest price offers, latest searches, etc.
    it's annoying.

if M$ is "accidentally" trying to start of a SE turf war then I put my money on Google. MSN SE use is pathetic, it accounts for less than 4% of my traffic flow and I have top 15 placement for keywords. I get almost 68% of my hits from Google. M$ has a really large mountain to climb with regards to regaining loyalty and SE use.

It's sort of like David versus Goliath, but this time Goliath has the upper hand.

www.live.com has been around for a LONG time, just not marketed/announced by msft formally, it was part of their sandbox (R&D area) for a long time now.

I also see www.live.com and http://search.msn.com have the SAME results on a search. No new underlying technology. Just a fancier interface.

I dont like it how can you search for a website ranking using it..
It limits web browser's find tool (ctrl+f) for website rank cheking..

I disagree. I did a search for some of my targeted keywords on both and although the results were similar they were definitely different.

odd, i did several and top 10 were exactly the same.

Oh well..I'd rather it be "new and improved" but me thinks its the same technology. Glad yours was different! :)

I just tried the search live beta at http://www.live.com

What a joke. Is it April first already? It is clunky, cluttered, and slow.

Is it even going to work on a default install of MSIE 7 -- or will you need to turn off all the default security to make that site work? That would make the most sense.

Man its slow as can be. I hated the slider.

I did like the ads changing to relevant ads based on what link you had your mouse hovering over. That was the one cool thing.

Plus it didn't look as cluttered with ads like google.

I'm not even going to blog about it and no one else should. Live is a waste of time. It won't be anything good and somewhat popular only because of the domain and lots of advertising. The best thing we can do is not advertise for them. At least not for free ;)

Maybe it is a rollback on MSN, but I'm seeing increased traffic labeled search.msn.com... Not sure if that is how Live is labeling it's referrers or if I'm simply seeing regular old MSN users in increased numbers.

You can be sure someone DID own the domain and now they are happy little campers.

Searches were fast for me, but I do not like the slide bar at all. I think it is a little difficult to follow and the results tend to get lost in the screen.

do a search for a keyword you know will show up your site, click on it then check your access logs. It doesn't register as a query, just a refer from www.live.com - grrrr
