Microsoft Corp. is releasing an overhauled Internet search engine, under a new name, still looking for traction in a market where rivals Google and Yahoo! have continued to pull ahead.

    http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/business/262079_msftsearch08.html

MSN Search slipping to an 11 percent share of Web searches in January, down about 2 percentage points compared with the same month last year. Google and Yahoo! rose to 48 percent and 22 percent, respectively.

I know they have the guts to bring Google down. So I am looking forward to this.

Can we please install a filter that blocks the combination of "microsoft" and "search"? Just kidding ... but I don't see what's unique and/or different. A lot of hooplah over nothing if you ask me (except that live.com is a better domain name).

I kind of like the no multiple page stuff, seems like it would possibly be quicker to find what you are looking for. As for the results they appear to be the same as msn.com no change there.

It looks cool and slick but it confuses me - especially when the result slides. It make me feel like I'm looking at the results while being rocked on a boat.

Will I use it ? Definately no.

I don't care about the results because the feature makes me feel sea sick.

I didnt like it from first impressions, but when I did a search and went through the results it looked pretty good.

I am not sure if I would use it though because I have been using Google for a long time now.

Like I've said before ... I like the domain name ... a lot. I wished someone other than msn owned it to make something more user friendly and exciting out of it. Why do they need a new search engine? Why not fix the one they have right now. It's all hype and no substance.

I think there will be some interest when they officially launch but it will dribble off and people will continue to use Google. Search engine design isn't M$'s core business. I have noticed a difference in results compared to straight MSN querries which is interesting.
