i mean, IE is starting to suck, microsoft puts IE 6 (hopefully not IE 5) in every pc. but IE 6 is losing all its support and i've even seen some sites quit supporting IE 6 now.
and microsoft think they own the internet.
they charge ppl to play xbox live, when u can get it free on ps3.
they charege ppl to get IE 8 (because u have to buy some sort of packs)
post your opion: do you think ms are getting a little off?

I think windows is still doing pretty well, as well as xbox, but in the more crowded markets, internet explorer and the zune arn't widely acknowledged

Microsoft no longer put IE6 in any of their products - IE7 comes with Vista and IE8 comes with Windows 7.
    IE8 is also a FREE download/upgrade.

Obviously, IE is losing some marketshare to Firefox and Chrome, but Windows still faces virtually no competition - Linux is still not friendly enough for an average user and Mac is still more of a fashion icon than a computer.

Where did you get the idea that MS charges for IE8?

And it's their perogative to charge for playing games online - they're not charging you to use the internet, they're charging you to access their service. Yes, you can play for free online with the PS3 but in my opinion is that MS live is much better (I have a PS3 and Xbox 360 so play online with both of them)

Mac is used by 50% of all college students, almost exclusively by graphic design firms and has doubled its sales in the last year.

Some? They've lost 1/3 of the market over the last 5 years.

But what is their global usage percentage? It's sitting on 5.12% compared to Windows 92.77%

Mac will never be a dominating OS, they had their chance 20 years ago and blew it now Windows and the applications surrounding it is far too dominate for Mac to do anything.

Sure it's an ok OS, but it's too late in the game.

Last I heard I thought it was around 8% but what does it matter? The poster said Macs are just fashion icons as if that's the only reason to get one. The only person who would say that is one who knows nothing about them and never used one. I mean, just because BMW doesn't have the market share of Toyota, should we say Mercedes are only fashion icons?
Better than OK and better than Windows could ever hope to be. MacOSX is Unix.

    Nah, only just 5%

I don't disagree with you, they are an ok OS i've owned a few. My first one just said "foo" on the screen until you put a floppy disk in and actually loaded something it was that long ago. I wouldn't say they are better or worse than Windows.. Just better suited to some people/tasks.

I think if they actually put their minds to do something they can actually make a good product that can actually keep up with the times.

Some quick Googling shows worldwide Macs are about 3.5% but in the US it's somewhere between 7 to 10%.

I've spent a good part of 2 years on a Mac and it is indeed an OK OS, but it is far more flash than substance. Like the graphics design firms and college students who use them.

Heh. Mac is Unix and far superior than anything you've ever used. If you can ignore graphic design firms and college students, can I ignore gamers as unimportant users?

Pirated versions of MS software cannot be verified, so Microsoft will charge money for any and/or all upgrades.

IEX6 is as far as most of the currently pirated software can go for most in Asia and eastern Europe, so it just stands to reason that charges would apply for upgrades.
