If you need to get a visual, then just use your browsers. Dreamweaver has its own rendering engine that is not even used in a browser, so if you can test directly in the browsers (you don't even need a local testing/development server like XAMPP) you can cut one engine out of the way with a single clean swipe. :)

Well, everything has an advantage and disadvantage.Basically,if i was to sum it up,it would be more likely that one offers more then the other. One is more complex, well structured and offers much more to web programmers then the other, and so on.

Secondly,it depends of your needs,i mean, mostly i use notepad...since i find myself coding stuff which are less complex and i am more of a professional web designer then a programmer.Yep...if you are beginner/intermediate with your skills, then probably the best choice would be to stick up with notepad or frontpage.Unless you are willing to spend your money, and later on realize if it was useful or not.

Guess everyone has its own opinion...anyhow :)

And I will contend any day of the week that any WISIWYG editor can't hold a candle to a basic text editor and the human brain. :)

Got that right Dan, I use PHP Designer 07, works well, and has the things i need like syntax highlighting and line numbers

Started with Frontpage, it sucked and made too many useless files (though I used the code view), and never really used Dreamweaver

I'm using Visual Studio for server side scripts development and DW as HTML editor. I'm not using DW as WYSWIG editor, but as HTML parser, corrector and editor is the best what i have tried.
